Intel Skylake Processors Overview
Skylake is the working title used by Intel for the microarchitecture device, which was released in August 2015 following the Broad well simultaneous multithreading. Skylake is a mini-architecture update using the same 14 mm production process technology as its precursor, which acts as a "tock" in Intel's "tick-tock" manufacturing and layout template.
The memory interface used on the Skylake models has been modified to accommodate DDR4 memory, much like Haswell-E, but compatibility would be restricted to dual-channel processing instead of a quad.
