The procedure of using a blood pressure monitor
- Correct position
For measuring blood pressure, the person should sit comfortably on a chair with feet placed on the floor and elbow solid be placed at a higher level. This level should be at the level of the heart. The person should not talk during this procedure
- Inflatable armband
Inflatable armband should be placed on the upper half of the arm. Thus the band should almost completely cover arm but it should not be too tight or too loose.
- Air pouch
Now press the air pouch with your hand to fill the armband with air. This will block the supply of blood for a minute second.
- Release air
Now release air from the air pouch
- Take reading
Now take a reading when a high sound is heard. The. Again take a reading when the sound disappears. Two readings are required.
