Storage
It should be not stored at the temperature above 25oC. The ointment should be kept out of reach of children.
Side Effects
It should be applied three times a day on the affected area or should be used with the prescription of a doctor as it has many side effects. It can cause itching, rash, burning sensation, watery eyes, allergic reaction, and difficulty in breathing or swelling of face, lips, and throat. If a person faces any of these reactions, then the doctor should be reported immediately.
If a large amount of the ointment gets absorbed in the body, it damages the nerves and kidneys. Whereas its long term uses may cause the growth of microorganisms. Pregnant and breast feeding mothers shouldn’t use it without the prescription of doctors.
Working of the product
Polymyxin B and bacitracin are antibiotics. They kill the bacteria that cause the infection. These ingredients attack the bacteria in multiple ways.
Polymyxin B connects with the cell membranes of the bacteria, whereas bacitracin interferes with the formation of the cell wall of bacteria. These antibiotics protect the cell so that no unwanted substance can enter it. This interference with the cell membrane and the cell wall kills the bacterium that has caused the infection.
Polyfax plus can be used for the treatment of mild acne. It can also be used in combination with other acne treatments. When it is applied to the skin benzoyl peroxide in it works in such a way that it reduces the amount of acne by drying the skin, which later peels off.
Verdict
I will recommend using Polyfax plus as it can be used for the treatment of many skin infections. But it should be used according to the prescription of the doctor.
